The consular service has, among its main functions, the following:
- For Argentine nationals, issuing and/or renewing documentation such as DNI, passports, temporary passports, updating the address on the DNI, first and second DNI update for minors, registering death certificates, among others.
- Granting Argentine nationality by option to the children of Argentine citizens
- Issuing powers of attorney, travel authorizations for minors, certificates of survival, criminal background checks, residence certificates (for customs purposes) and non-customs residence certificates, authentication of photocopies, certification of signatures, for both Argentine and foreign nationals.
- Offering those listed in the Consulate's electoral roll the opportunity to vote for national positions in person at the Consulate.
- Processing and issuing visas for those foreign nationals who need them to enter Argentina.
- Handling consular emergencies involving an Argentine national within the Consulate's jurisdiction, providing an emergency contact phone.
In general, the Consulate does not handle the legalization of documents or the processing of civil registry records.
