Certificates of Survival or Affidavits

The issuance of certificates of survival or affidavits to present to ANSES or social security organizations is carried out at the request of the interested party to verify the "existence" (proof of life) of the beneficiary with fixed or temporary residence abroad, for the collection of retirement, pensions, or withdrawals within the social security systems, among others, of the Argentine Republic.

It is currently possible to do this in three different ways: in person (at the Consulate), via video call, or remotely (by postal mail), according to the conditions detailed below.

The process is free of charge.

Requirements for in-person processing

Personally attend this Consulate on the days and public service hours. The interested person must present the following documentation:

  1. Valid DNI or Argentine Passport . In the case of foreigners: a valid, suitable identity document.
  2. Name of the retirement or pension fund.
  3. Retirement benefit number

Procedure via video call:

THIS METHOD IS ENABLED ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE AN UPDATED DNI WITH AN ADDRESS WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THIS CONSULATE

The process is carried out entirely remotely via video call (preferably to a number enabled for WhatsApp), and digital certificates are issued and sent by institutional email to the interested party.

Requirements:

  • Schedule an appointment in advance by emailing catla@mrecic.gov.ar with the subject "turno supervivencia + YOUR NAME AND LAST NAME"
  • Complete the form in Word format (download here), print, sign, and then send it digitally to catla@mrecic.gov.ar (as a high-quality photo or scan). In that same email, send a high-quality photo or scan of both sides of your DNI and, if available, the beneficiary card.
  • Coordinate and perform the video call between the interested party and the Consulate (a screenshot will be taken)
  • The process is free of charge.
  • The certificate is delivered with a digital signature by email and requires no further actions.

REMOTE CERTIFICATE OF SURVIVAL

If you reside in the jurisdiction of this Consulate General (Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, or Tennessee), you may request the issuance of a Remote Certificate of Survival.

Procedure by mail:

  1. Download the form template
  2. The interested party must complete the form before a Notary Public who must include their respective details and place their signature and seal.
  3. Legalize the signature of the Notary Public with the Hague Apostille issued by the Secretary of State of your state of residence. For more information on how to obtain the Hague Apostille, consult your Notary Public.
  4. Attach a photocopy of your valid Identity Document (DNI, Passport) and indicate the name of the retirement or pension fund, the social security benefit number, and the contact details of the interested party (postal address, phone number, email).
  5. Send the Form with the Hague Apostille. There are two alternatives:
  • a) Send the Form with the Hague Apostille directly to Argentina (bank, attorney, or ANSES office corresponding to your case), or,
  • b) Send the Form with the Hague Apostille to the Argentine Consulate in Atlanta.
  1. If you choose to send the Form with the Hague Apostille to the Argentine Consulate in Atlanta, please note the following:
  • a) If the beneficiary has formally declared to ANSES that they reside abroad, the process is complete once the Apostilled Form is received, as the Consulate is authorized to send it electronically to the relevant Argentine authorities. This applies in cases where ANSES credits the funds to an authorized bank in Argentina, which are then transferred to a foreign bank.
  • b) If the beneficiary has NOT formally declared to ANSES that they reside abroad, the Consulate will issue a Certificate of Survival and send it by postal mail to the interested party, who must then forward it to the corresponding authorized person or entity in Argentina.
