What is an Apostille?
Apostilles authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on Public Documents and Notarized Documents (signed by a Notary Public) so that they can be recognized in foreign countries.
In general, documents originating from Argentina or the United States, to be valid in the other country, need to have the Hague Apostille added by the authorities of the document's country of origin. This occurs without the involvement of this Consulate, but there are exceptions that are detailed below.
How to apostille an Argentine document from abroad?
After obtaining a certificate issued in Argentina (birth, marriage, death, etc.), if it needs to be presented to foreign authorities, it must first be apostilled. You can do this through the TAD (Remote Procedures) System via the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs Apostille portal.

In case of an emergency and if you cannot wait for the normal processing times of the TAD system, you can request the apostille of an Argentine document through this Consulate.
Procedure for the Hague Apostille process at the Consulate
Send an email to catla@mrecic.gov.ar attaching the digital document in PDF format to be apostilled and the completed Apostille/Legalization Request Form, which you can download in PDF format HERE or in DOC format HERE.
For more information about this procedure, you must send your inquiry along with the attached certificate or digital title to catla@mrecic.gov.ar, with the subject "Solicitud de apostillado SU NOMBRE Y APELLIDO".
Certificates must have a mandatory verifiable digital signature to proceed with the digital apostille. You can find information on provincial civil registries and how to obtain certificates HERE.
