Certification of Presentation to the Consulate ("Visa by the Consulate")

The Consulate may intervene in a document submitted by the interested party by adding the Consul’s stamp and signature, thereby confirming that the document was presented to the Consulate on a given date. This may be done in person or by postal mail.

How to begin the procedure
The interested party must have the following:

  • A valid and current ID card (DNI) or passport.
  • The document on which you wish the Consulate to place the “visa”.
  • Processing fee: USD 100. This fee does not apply to documentation of a commercial nature. “Visas” on donation certificates are free of charge.

If you have everything required, contact us via email at catla@cancilleria.gob.ar to receive instructions for completing the procedure by postal mail, or CLICK HERE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO COMPLETE THE PROCEDURE IN PERSON AT THE CONSULATE.

Notes regarding the “consular visa”

  • The consular visa does not constitute a “legalization” of the document, nor does it replace the Hague Apostille, which is the only international legalization between Argentina and the United States.
  • A consular visa consists of the Consulate placing a stamp and signature on the document to confirm that it has been presented to the Consul.
  • The consular visa does not certify the authenticity or the content of the document.
  • It should not be confused with a migratory visa. For information on migratory visas, please visit CONSULAR SERVICES, section “VISAS”.

Payment options

  • Electronic (a 3.25% service provider surcharge applies): by credit or debit card or via payment link
  • Bank deposit: in person at Ameris Bank (location here), after first visiting the Consulate where you will be given the payment slip
