Authentication of Photocopies (Certified Copy)
The Consulate can authenticate photocopies of documents provided that the original documents are presented. Through this procedure, the Consul certifies that the photocopy presented is a true and complete reproduction of the original document shown.
This procedure is usually used when an institution requests a "certified copy" or "authenticated copy" of a document.
The applicant must have:
- The original documents.
- A valid and current identity document (ID card or passport).
- Consular Fee: USD 20 per page.
How to start the procedure
This procedure is carried out in person at the Consulate and, generally, is completed at the time during your appointment.
- Request an appointment through the following link: National Appointment System.
- Once you have obtained the appointment, send an email to catla@mrecic.gov.ar indicating the date and time of your appointment along with the reservation code provided by the system.
Payment options (made at the Consulate):
- Electronic (a 3.25% service provider surcharge applies): with credit or debit card or via payment link.
- Bank deposit: in person at Ameris Bank (location here), after first stopping by the Consulate where you will be given the payment slip. Please note that the bank is located 5 minutes away by car.
- Payments by check or cash are not accepted.
Notes
- Each page is authenticated separately.
- Authentication of photocopies does not constitute legalization of the document nor does it replace the Hague Apostille.
- An authenticated copy is a photocopy of the original document stamped and signed by the Consul to certify that it matches the original presented.
- Authentication of a photocopy does not certify the authenticity or the content of the original document.
- It is not possible to authenticate copies if the corresponding original is not presented.
- The Consulate does not retain copies of the documents presented.
