Travel Permit for minors (Venia de viaje)

What is a Travel Permit or “Venia de Viaje” for Minors?

The travel permit (or Venia de Viaje) is an authorization for the entry or exit of Argentina of a minor, granted by those who exercise parental responsibility over said minor.

Who requires a travel permit?

  • WHEN ENTERING THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC: Minors who have not reached the age of 13, regardless of their nationality and entry category, who are not traveling accompanied or are not awaited by the person or persons exercising parental responsibility or by an authorized third party.
  • WHEN LEAVING THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC: Minors under 18 years of age (not emancipated), regardless of their nationality, who have domicile or legal residence in Argentina and who are not traveling accompanied by both parents or whoever exercises parental responsibility.

How to start the travel authorization process?

Request an appointment by e-mail to catla@mrecic.gov.ar

Documentation to present in person on the day of your appointment:

  • Identity document of the authorizing party/parent responsible: DNI (in the case of Argentine nationals), passport or other valid legal document (in the case of foreigners)
  • Birth Certificate of the Minor: if the certificate was not issued by Argentine authorities, it must be legalized by the Hague Apostille.

Alternatively to the procedure at the Consulate, you can obtain a travel authorization signed before a Public Notary and legalized by the Hague Apostille. If the authorization is not written in Spanish, it must be translated by an Argentine Public Translator and be legalized by the "Public College of Translators of the Argentine Republic".
