Apostille

WHAT IS AN APOSTILLE?

Apostilles authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on Public Documents and Notarized Documents (signed by a Notary Public) so that they can be recognized in foreign countries.

 

US DOCUMENTS TO BE PRESENTED IN ARGENTINA

Public Documents and/or Notarized Documents must have the “Hague Apostille” in order to be valid in Argentina.

Examples of Public Documents:

  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate
  • Death certificate
  • Police records
  • Etc.

Examples of Notarized Documents:

  • Pension Forms
  • Bank Statements
  • Employer letters
  • Affidavit of support
  • Travel Authorizations
  • Copies of documents
  • Etc.

        

           Example: Apostille issued by the state of SC. 

Documents with an apostille DO NOT require to be legalized in order to be valid in Argentina.

 

Notarized Documents (certified by Public Notary):

 

Public Notary must include the following text:

 “The foregoing instrument was acknowledged and signed before me this …. day of ..(day/month/year), by …..(full name)… Type of ID….No…

Notary Seal + Notary Signature + Print, type or stamp name of Notary”

 

IMPORTANT: Once the apostille is issued DO NOT detach the pages as this will void the document.

 

HOW TO OBTAIN THE APOSTILLE

The Consulate does not issue apostilles. Apostilles for US Documents are only issued by US Authorities such us:
